I now tried again: If I use the global proxy settings it works. But I do have to switch it off manually if I change to mobile data communication or other WiFi connections.

Proxy settings also have no effect on the latest "Torronsuo" release (3.2.0.12). No application seems to use a proxy. The browser can be configured to use it though.
